She Sits There
She sits there
Draped in an outfit
Made for another day
Silk socks
Warming her cramped legs
Unable to shake a spider away
She sits there
Stomach pervaded with the week’s
Meal for one
Ears aching from the wall clock’s
Immortal thumping
Of moments gone
She sits there
Roughly running flesh-dried fingers
Through her bristled silver strands
Green eyes transfixed to the door
Like a falling star
Clinging to the last light
She sits there
Hidden behind translucent windows
Windows wrapped in pink cotton curtains
Hung tightly to scare out the dark
Like an overcast day
Hidden from its misdirected shadows
She sits there
Weary of days spent
In stale reflection
Mind clutched
To cracked and blurry photos
People
Places
Memories waning slowly
Like plucked flowers
Drying in a summer sun
