I had my first son in July of 2020. I was 20 years old, and nervous as could be to bring a baby into a pandemic. I had to attend all my doctor appointments alone, wear my mask during my ultrasounds, and I could only have one person with me at the hospital. The last regulation is what got me the most. Just me and my sister stuck in a hospital for five days. No visitors. No going outside. Just there, in the labor and delivery room ALONE. Nothing was more daunting than knowing a baby was coming, but not knowing what to expect in the near future. In the end, I had my baby, and we were healthy. I took him home and sat inside for months waiting for warmer weather and things to go back to “normal”.
